Toni Guffei

As owner and lead strategist, Toni Guffei has worked with hundreds of companies doing business in Canada and U.S. in a range of industries including technology, construction, oil and gas services, environment, arts, education, professional services, hospitality and non-profit. 

In 2013 she launched Ratio Reports - a Do It Yourself Marketing firm that offers training for small businesses who want to learn how to build their own strategic marketing plan. These hands-on workshops range from Social Media planning to Branding strategies.

One of her passions is to inspire young entrepreneurs. She teaches marketing to millennials at Mount Royal University where she values the opportunity to share stories from the “real world.” She's also a mentor for Futurpreneur, an organization that offers mentoring to business owners between the ages of 18-39.

Dan Giurescu
Founder of Terrahub, industrial blockchain education, incubator and consulting. Dan is a dynamic, insightful and collaborative business leader with demonstrated success identifying new market opportunities. Dan thrives on the challenge of commercializing new concepts, guiding teams and inspiring action by creating an environment where taking risks in pursuit of success is encouraged.  Dan leveraged his industry and regulatory knowledge, financial acumen and technology expertise to co-found Caledonia Solutions, a supply chain software for the dangerous goods industry, moving the industry away from paper and into digital innovation. Dan is a Member of The A100 and Mentor with IBM District Ventures. 

Mike Brown

As Director of Innovation within ATB Financial, Mike and the Innovation team are reimagining the future of ATB and how it can make banking work for Albertans. 

Mike currently leads ATB’s efforts around blockchain, where he actively is identifies and manages opportunities to pilot and evaluate blockchain use cases with a vision to transform areas of our industry that are prime for disruption. In 2017, Mike joined the Advisory board for Blockchain Canada and leads ATB’s involvement in the R3 Lab and Research Centre - a global industry consortium of over 80 banks collaborating on distributed ledger solutions. 

Mike’s 20+ years of experience managing various technology-focused initiatives in both the energy and digital marketing sectors, and degrees in engineering and computer science from the University of Saskatchewan, plus an MBA from Queen’s University allow Mike to bring a unique perspective to ATB’s innovation journey.

Terry Ross

Terry Ross has over 15 years experience in business development, policy development and social science research fields.   Terry is currently working with the Schulich School of Engineering on establishing research partnerships and supporting entrepreneurial initiatives.  He recently completed his PhD which focused upon analyzing the emergence of Alberta’s system of innovation and the role of an entrepreneurial government.  Terry is focused upon understanding the disruptive potential of distributed ledger technologies (e.g. blockchain), their potential to upgrade the Alberta economy and working with stakeholders from Government, Academia and Industry to trial new projects.
